Walkin’ Through A Wildlife Wonderland With Coral & Tusk

Even though Coral & Tusk started in a Brooklyn apartment, founder Stephanie Housley has always drawn inspiration from the natural world for her charming, illustrative textile designs. In 2016 she hightailed it to Wyoming, drawn to the West’s big skies, fields of wildflowers and animal inhabitants. She chatted with STORY about crafting goods that are good for the earth, a love for all creatures great and small and her favorite spot to pop into when she’s back in Brooklyn.

In 15 words or less, what makes your brand a great gift? Our original embroidered designs are heirloom quality pieces with charming imagery and nostalgic motifs.

What’s one product are you featuring in STORY that our community should look for + what makes it special? I especially love our Homecoming Lumbar. The design features a woodland family celebrating the season and togetherness!

Last person who inspired you on Instagram? @pacificwild

What is a fun fact we can’t find out about you on the internet? I’m super handy with a chainsaw!

What are three things about your brand/business you want our community to know? A fascination with home and habitat informs every design we create! So many of our designs are based on animals and the places they call home. This fascination also extends to the bigger picture of our planet. We use primarily unbleached natural linen, avoiding the harsh chemicals found in fabric dyes. We also strive to give back to organizations that support the planet and all its creatures when we can.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Seashells from my Mom

Where’s your go-to spot in New York for a great holiday cocktail + what do you love about it? Fig Sidecar at Walter’s in Fort Greene is my go to!

Who are you toasting to this holiday season? Great community!
