Get Your DIY on and Deck Out Your Vans with Rosa Bluestone Perr

Come party with true originals. The Vans crew is posting up for a night of sipping, re-mixing, and creating. Artist Rosa Bluestone Perr, named one of Nylon’s five females transforming the tattoo industry, will be in-store to provide artistic inspiration. An artist raised by artists, she’s got creativity in her veins, and a passion for gender equality that runs even deeper. Her hand-poked tattoos have become a form of art activism –  a pointed challenge to the male-dominated. Now Rosa brings her unfiltered originality to our STORY (and your shoes). Ahead of her workshop she talks inspiration and to-do lists

How do you define originality in six words or less?

Be yourself, nobody else can!

What are we going to be doing with you tomorrow night?

We are going to be “tattooing” our blank Vans so that each person walks away with their own totally unique pair of shoes they decorated themselves.

What’s on your DIY to do list?

Everything, I am obsessed with doing things myself which is actually how I got into tattooing! Next on my DIY list is pottery, I just moved and need new bowls and cups and plates but I am excited to take a pottery class and make some of my own!

Where do you find inspiration for your projects?

The people of NYC. I grew up in Greenwich village back when it was a bohemian hub of artists and I always take inspiration from the amazing people of NYC. They are all so different and beautiful and creative and I love looking at how people adorn themselves.

Most original piece of advice you’ve received?

Coconut oil fixes everything.

Here’s the details…

When: October 4th, 6:30-8:00pm
