MAKING THINGS: Artlifting Makes the Case for Good

Starting with a disruptive vision in 2013, Boston-based Artlifting has expanded its enterprise for good to eleven cities across the United States. Within their first week of operation, they had completely changed the lives of four local Boston artists. Today, they use numerous sales channels to empower at least seventy-two artists (and growing).

Maker: Liz and Spencer Powers, Founders + The homeless and disabled artists they serve.

Makes: Boldly and beautifully arted phone cases for iPhone and Android.

Method: Artlifting provides homeless and disabled artists with a chance to secure a sustainable income through the sale of original paintings, prints, and products. Every artist receives 55% of the sale of their art (or art-printed product), and 1% of each sale goes to a fund for providing art supplies to therapy groups across the US.

Must-Have Because: These cases for iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 speak with the unique and colorful voices of their artists, and here’s the top notification: They don’t just look good – They do good for people trying to make a fresh start with incredible art!
