Sales Manager

Position Overview

The Store Manager, Sales is responsible for driving in-store sales, providing excellent customer service and inspiring and motivating the Storyteller team to achieve stated company goals for each story.  The ideal candidate has a passion for engaging with customers, an attitude of unwavering positivity and the desire to help lead a committed team with an interesting mission and purpose.  This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works in partnership with the General Manager and other company leadership on all aspects of driving the business; identifying and setting goals and priorities for the overall success of the store
  • Leads the sales floor with a focus on maintaining team productivity and morale
  • Performs opening and closing duties efficiently including arming and disarming security systems, handling cash, completing EOD paperwork and reporting, and preparing the store for business
  • Models company standards to the team for front-of-house behaviors such as greeting and selling and back-of-house processes such as restocking
  • Actively coaches employees on and off the sales floor with tangible, actionable feedback utilizing courteous communication and appropriate follow-up
  • Involved in recruiting, hiring and onboarding, working with the General Manager to identify seasonal needs, develop hiring plan and balance the skills and experience needed in the store
  • Supports the store payroll plan by partnering with the General Manager to use store labor effectively during stories, events and turnover
  • Works with General Manager to create weekly and daily schedules for store staff
  • Evaluates reporting to obtain relevant insights and uses information to affect positive change with store staff
  • Partners with Sales Trainer and Merchandising Team to develop and execute general and brand-specific trainings as necessary for each story
  • Assists in the set-up and execution of store events and serves as brand ambassador to attendees and patrons

Experience and Skills Required

  • College degree preferred
  • 3+ years management/leadership experience (in retail sales or other relevant field)
  • Experience coaching and managing individuals, including providing job-specific guidance, directing and evaluating work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude with tremendous flexibility and passion for knowledge
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities at once
