Get to Know: Jessica Marquez of Miniature Rhino

This Tuesday, February 28, 4-5:30PM, Jessica Marquez leads kids (ages 4-10pm) in a Crafternoon! Based in Brooklyn, Jessica Marquez is the craft genius behind Miniature Rhino. Her first book Stitched Gifts was published in 2012 by Chronicle Books, and her work has graced the pages of InStyle Magazine, Bust, and Daily Candy. We caught up with her to chat about her brand, and a few of her New York City “favorites.”

Describe your brand in one sentence.
Easy to make, creative kits inspired by nature and filled with curiosity and wonder.

What’s one fact about you we can’t learn by googling?
I know all the words to Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings”. When I was little and wanted to be a singer I used this song as the gold standard for singing and sang it at the top of my lungs.

Favorite place to shop?
Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store in Park Slope, Brooklyn.


Favorite Instagram feed?
@wolfgang2242! Love following Steve and his gang of rescue animals, which includes a lot of senior dogs, a pig named Bikini, a chicken named Oprah, Stuart the rabbit, and Jim the pigeon.

Favorite place to eat?
Donuts at Dunwell. Bibimbap at Franchia. Everything at by CHLOE.


Favorite place in NYC?
The New York Public Library at 42nd St. where you can visit the real Winnie the Pooh.

Basically, everything from the 90’s.
