How #PitchNight is Finding Creativity, Supporting Entrepreneurs

What’s #PitchNight? Glad you asked. In STORY speak, it’s our signature Designer and Maker open call – a night for discovering new things, meeting new people, and making new connections. Equal parts community night and opportunity of a lifetime, it offers anyone with a ready-for-market product 3-minutes with STORY founder, Rachel Shechtman and a panel of relevant press and even other retailers. Past panelists have included Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS, Piers Fawkes, Editor in Chief of PSFK, Josh Rubin and Evan Orensten, co-founders of Cool Hunting, Adam Glassman, Editor of O Magazine, Tory Johnson, GMA Contributor and Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSNi.

Here’s how it works…

  1. Makers with a physical, ready for market product RSVP (do that here) to let us know a little about themselves.
  2. After being confirmed via email, participants show up and line up to get a numbered slot – Pitch Night is first come first served.
  3. Be ready for show and tell: Participants have 3-minutes to share the story behind their business and make a case for their product.
  4. Mix, mingle, and make connections – you never know who you’ll meet!

What happens next? The sky is seriously the limit. Take BJ Dowling, creator of The Bodyworks Ball, an innovative self-massage and therapy ball. After pitching her product to our panel, including HSNi CEO Mindy Grossman BJ was asked to appear on American Dreams portion of The Monday Night Show with Adam Freeman.
