CuteCircuit Brings Fashion Tech to Runways
For CuteCircuit, the London based label known for its technology embedded ready-to-wear, the future of fashion lies in exploring it as a medium that can communicate. And we’re not talking about loud prints. As designers Ryan Genz and Francesca Rosella explained before their Spring 14 runway show, the goal was to to create pieces that realized the full potential of self-expression through the layered (visible and invisible) application of technology. Think LED-embedded lapels that can be programmed to say “Hi,” or a clutch that fearlessly exclaims “Love.”
It’s cutting edge. But the circuitry, the LED-embedded in the pieces, didn’t overpower the cute factor – bulbs blinked subtly at the bottom of a tailored suit pant and drifted under a soft, white skirt. Because this #StyleTech story is as much about what’s visible as it is about what’s going on behind the seams.
Pieces from CuteCircuit’s runway ready-to-wear collection will be on display exclusively at STORY throughout StyleTech.
