Poolside Chat: Alphabet City Beer Co Founder Zach Mack
We sat down with Cicerone extraordinaire Zach Mack of Alphabet City Beer Co to chat summer (+food + drink) in the city!
What’s your story in six words or less?
Great beer without all the pretense
Okay more importantly, what do you love most about summer (in NYC)?
Long daylight hours that make those late afternoon hangouts with friends feel like they go on forever! Especially rooftop parties…
What’s at the top of your summer bucket list?
To sail the harbor at sunset on the Sunset at least three more times!
When it’s too hot to be outside you can find me….
Eating ramen indoors at Minca like a crazy person
When’s the last time you played hooky and what did you get up to?
Took the NYC Ferry to the Rockaways for the day. Stopped at Connoly’s for a frozen pina colada on our walk to the beach before camping out on the sand for a few hours. Grabbed a frozen sangria from Rippers to break the afternoon heat and then grabbed Rockaway Tacos before catching the boat back. A perfect NYC summer day!
What’s your go-to frozen situation (dessert, cocktail, popsicle)?
Anything with raspberries in it. Anything!
Give us your best skip working excuse…
As someone who has two businesses on Governors Island: “Sorry, I just barely missed the last ferry! I’m stuck out here for another two hours at least…
Guilty pleasure summer song:
The entire Yacht Rock playlist on Spotify (basically, a ton of Michael McDonald and Hall & Oates)
