Start Your Valentine’s Day Restored With Dani Katz
Whether you’re gearing up for a romantic evening or celebrating solo, you want to start your Valentine’s Day feeling good. Dani Katz brings her heart-focused yoga class to STORY on February 14th from 9-10AM, so we decided to get to know what makes her tick.
First off, what can our followers expect in a special “Valentine’s Day” yoga
In this class we will explore self-love and the idea that to feel good, you don’t need to look anywhere except for inside of yourself. We will draw from various yoga and meditation techniques such as Mantra, Pranayama, Asana, and relaxing restorative bliss to create a healing, self-empowering experience.
So single or taken, this class should make them feel good.
To me, “feel good” means that my actions, values, and thoughts are all in alignment. When I’m feeling good, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I want, and in harmony with everything around me. Yoga can inspire that feeling, no matter what your relationship status may be.
What’s the last thing that made you feel really good?
Just a few hours ago I dropped by my home base yoga studio, Naam Yoga. Community means so much to me, and I don’t know how I would survive in this city without the endless love and support from my Naam Yoga family. When I welcome students to my class, I feel like I’m welcoming them into my home. It is truly a sacred space we have here and it’s a place that makes me feel so good!
Would you call teaching yoga your calling?
I truly feel that teaching yoga is the work I was born to do. I was lucky to start my practice of yoga at 12. I’ve been a musician since the age of 9 as well. The lifestyle of a musician is pretty opposite of the life of a yogi. I was taking terrible care of myself and had a terrible sense of self-worth. I reached a breaking point eventually, and a 3-month-long yoga teacher training landed in my lap. It seemed like destiny. In this training I discovered that I have a gift for teaching and it was hard for me to go back to my old ways. I am so grateful to spend my time bringing healing to others.
