Love-A-Thon Raises Money and Spirits
On Inauguration Day, there’s only one thing on our minds: LOVE!
Millennial tech wunderkind Alex Godin (son of bestselling author and friend of STORY Seth Godin, whose huge and beautiful book “What Does it Sound Like When You Change Your Mind?” made a stand-out appearance at Home for the Holidays) is doing something disruptive to raise money for Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and Earthjustice.
Assembling celebrities well-versed in love and laughter, including Judd Apatow, Chelsea Handler, Penn & Teller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ilana Glazer, (and way too many others to list here), Godin is staging the first-ever Facebook Live telethon starting on January 20th at 12:30PM.
Working with distribution partner Upworthy and a pro-bono production team of volunteers from companies like Click3x and American Movie Company, the “Love-A-Thon” will cost nothing to produce or distribute, which means more money goes directly to the organizations that it intends to benefit.
“I woke up like a lot of Americans feeling pretty crappy on November 10. I looked for an opportunity to do something,” Godin told CNN Money. “It’s a really important opportunity to support causes like Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, Earthjustice, as they gear up to do work.”
