It’s A Date! Pitch Night Debut
SHARE WITH US YOUR PITCH NIGHT EXPERIENCE.
Pitch night was a truly exciting experience! We were a little nervous, almost like going on a first date! But, there was a great supportive crowd of other entrepreneurs who were in the same boat talking about their products and experiences which calmed our nerves. Once we were ready to pitch, all eyes were on us. We did our best to stick to our pitch, but inevitably there was a lot of interaction with the panel so we definitely went off script! We did our best and had a blast doing it. We were finished before we knew it!
ANY STAND OUT PITCH NIGHT MOMENTS?
Our pitch started with a joke, where I said the original concept of our business idea was the “sweetest Valentine’s Day gift” I received from my wife. Ali acted enamored with my compliment during the pitch as we had planned beforehand. Then the audience in the room, especially Rachel on the panel came out with a huge laugh, and asked how long we practiced that line! We were happy we gave the audience some comic relief and left the room with that light-hearted impression of our product.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START IT’S A DATE?
We were tired of going to the same restaurants or hanging in on the couch and wanted more exciting and unique date nights. But we didn’t want to spend hours on our phones and computers planning them. One Valentine’s Day, Ali made Glenn a gift of handmade date cards, full of awesome date night plans in the city. We had so much fun on the dates that we looked for a guide that had more planned out date nights… but none existed. So we took it upon ourselves to create a date night guide to New York City for us and for other couples looking to have great nights out. It became our mission to bring you the best date nights in the big city (Check it out atitsadateguides.com)!
ANY HIDDEN TALENTS?
Ali has an amazing eye for design, is a true people person and she knows how to dress to impress! Glenn is tenacious, loves to write, and he can whip up a tasty batch of eggs (any way you like it)!
WHAT’S THE MOST POWERFUL PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED?
Never give up, never slow down, never grow old, never ever die young – James Taylor (Never met him, but powerful advice nonetheless)
WHAT’S A FUN FACT WE CAN’T LEARN ABOUT YOU ON GOOGLE?
One of our favorite date nights was right in our own backyard in Long Island City – We went to Moma PS1 which is such a unique museum that no one should miss out on it if they live in NYC. Followed by some unique eats at M. Wells Dinette; one of the most interesting café’s inside the museum. Then drinks at Dutch Kills, an edgy neighborhood cocktail bar. Of course we didn’t want the date to end there, so we took a stroll in Gantry Park which we frequent often for amazing views of the NYC skyline and calming vibes!
