BUILDING OUR STORY WITH HOME DEPOT

Take a look at the making of Home for the Holidays

STORY is the store that’s always changing. Each year we return “Home for the Holidays,” our annual gift guide where we create dedicated rooms for every recipient on your gift list. This year the goal was to create four standout spaces inside our 2000-square foot storefront: an entry hall for her, a kitchen for everyone, a playground for kids, and a garage for him. How’d we get there? Like most projects, ours began at Home Depot; allowing materials like concrete, AstroTurf, and ceramic tiles to inform the overall design process.

THE BLUEPRINT

The kitchen is the center of our home, which we brought to life through ceramic tiles and concrete flooring. Copper pipes were used to create an airy shelving system that picked up the metallic elements woven throughout the space while serving a function.

IN THE KITCHEN: Copper pipes were welded together and attached to the wall using flanges. Ceramic tiling was installed to give the space a light authenticity.

IN THE PLAYGROUND: AstroTurf was used in the kid’s playground as a textured wall surface and flooring. The idea was to provide a playful backdrop for our jungle gym inspired shelving system without compromising floorspace.
