IN CONVERSATION WITH: Daily Harvest Founder Rachel Drori

YOU MAJORED IN POLITICAL SCIENCE. HOW DID YOU END UP CREATING DAILY HARVEST?

Daily Harvest was born from a personal need. I found myself working long hours and packing my weekends, which left me with little time to cook the healthy meals I wanted to be eating. I found myself resorting to take-out and processed foods, and felt that there had to be an easy way to eat better.

I started portioning out individual smoothies to eat for breakfast throughout the week. It became a really easy way to squeeze in a healthy meal with next to no effort and in minimal time. My husband took interest, and then friends, and it’s grown like wildfire from there!

WERE YOU ALWAYS INTERESTED IN CLEAN EATING?

Yes – I was a rower growing up and learned a lot about nutrition and how to efficiently and properly fuel my body. From there it became a hobby – always reading about new advancements in research to feed personal knowledge desire. The crazy thing is that most research points to rewinding through history as the solution. One of my favorite books has always been Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food.

WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Problem solving! Finding more hours in the day and ways to get closer to “having it all.”
